First Three Days of New York

Oct. 7th, 2013 | 11:36 am

We've had three full days in New York now. Absolutely exhausted after the 8 hour flight to Hong Kong plus the 15 hour flight to New York. All up we were on the road for more than 30 hours  with minimal sleep! The first afternoon was all sleep, then we got up at 9pm (9 in the morning in Perth!) and went out to 34th Street for a pizza. Then more sleep!

I haven't been able to post anything for the past few days. Am I finally back on?

My wife has an iTravel....it works much better than the iPad because the iTravel carries a laptop in his backpack for her, picks up her luggage, carries her shopping and navigates foreign cities for her.

Of Course, It's Journey!

Sep. 28th, 2009 | 10:41 pm
music: Journey - Don't Stop Believing

Tv stations here have been showing some previews of "Glee", which is apparently a musical style show about a musical. Anyway, I'm not here to disparage the show, except to say that it's probably not something I'd be interested in. However, the previews kept playing a really poppy/boppy song that got on my nerves....a lot. I thought it was the theme song of the show and it was had the lyrics "Don't Stop Believing".

I forgot about it for a while, then Su said that she watched an episode and it was all about cover songs. BAM! It hit me....the song from the previews was "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Gosh, I haven't heard that song in over a decade!!! I loved the song when I was younger. I was kicking myself for not recognising it earlier, but Glee's cover was so....so...WRONG...that the song didn't even click with me. I guess it sounded as though they took a great rock song and "Disneyfied" it. :)

OMG, It's Just Like In Chrono Trigger

Little sleep chambers for people to rest in! These aren't supposed to be invented for another 200 years...

But I bet you'll still be hungry after resting in them. :)

So men are truly redundant

Jun. 14th, 2008 | 11:57 pm

First, they invented bugspray. Then artificial insemination. Now my fiancee has found out that wrapping a rubber band around the lid of a tight jar enables her to open it easily.

Men are truly not needed anymore!

Inside the Minds of Simple Australians

May. 22nd, 2008 | 05:48 pm

There was a poll on an Australian news website today. Question: "Should workers get a 5 per cent pay rise to cope with inflation?"

A huge majority - 79% of voters, presumably Aussies - voted yes.

Of course, most workers get their annual performance reviews and pay rises. But if we were to simply give an extra 5% to everyone, it would not mean anything. Everyone would still be in the same position they were in before because it wouldn't be long before prices of goods rose by 5%+inflation as well.

I truly hope 79% of people in my country are not that dumb. Maybe it's just those who have access to the internet....

Shot Through the Heart...

Feb. 1st, 2008 | 12:50 pm

...and you're to blame. Darling you give love...a bad name!

Went to see BON JOVI in concert last week. Pretty awesome atmosphere at Subi Oval. They played their old hits as well as their new "Lost Highway" stuff. I was particularly impressed with Richie Sambora, who got great sounds out of his guitar - especially with the talk box. He also had real stage presence. Bon Jovi himself sang well, although he opted out of the very high pitched vocal sections, instead leaving them to his female backing singer to fill in. Still, his voice lasted well throughout the 2.5 hours.

Today we'll be going to THE POLICE. Can't wait!

Eric, Me Olde Mate

Jan. 4th, 2008 | 10:22 am

It's been nice to see Eric again on his annual pilgrimage home to Perth. Good times! We boxed and drank beer.

After he left for Canberra 2 years ago, I started exercising regularly with Su. I used to joke that she was my "new Eric". Now that I'm engaged to her, it's kinda scary thinking about the implications of that statement.....!!
